Coworkers of mine put together a really great overview of web hosting, and the step-by-step process you go through to set it up. It talks in layman’s terms about how domains work, how to set up your email, and some options on how to design your website. (My minimal contribution was the design of the headers!) You can check out the whole user guide here.

I really appreciate the effort that hosting and web design companies are making to speak to users using language that is accessible and not tech-y. I think that the focus on empowering web users to create and maintain their own sites will lead to clients who trust them and use them to fill in their web skill gaps.
